Intel, Micron Announces 128GB NAND Flash Chip

Intel and Micron Technology, Inc announced a new NAND flash chip. The flash technology is worlds first 20nm, 128Gb device. The device has 333 megatransfer per second(MT/s) speed providing cost effect solid state storage for our slim and light weight smartphones, tablets and solid state drives.

The success of 20nm process is due to an new innovative cell structure that enables more aggressive cell scaling than conventional architecture. The 20nm NAND uses a planer cell structure that overcomes inherent difficulties.  The 128Gb NAND flash devices will be mass produced by first-half of  2012.
